Our Story

Nellie Gail Ranch has been a family vision for many years in memory of our sweet Australian Cattle Dog. The vision grew and started taking on a life in 2020. We were already a multi-generational family. Marvelyn’s dad lives with us, and our youngest adult son completed college from home that year. Relocating all work and school home during the pandemic led our daughter and her family to join us for three months to share resources and support each other. Our other adult son and his wife lived up the street. It was clear that we all really loved being together and working together.

Concurrently, we were beginning early plans for a post-first-career pivot and dreaming of what we wanted that to look like. It quickly became evident that the most rewarding solution would include all of us in some way, extending the multi-generational experience and creating something that would live on for years to come for the whole family.

Marvelyn has fond memories of early childhood in a large extended family community and her grandpa’s ranch. She wanted to recreate that feeling for her family and create memories with her granddaughter.

Out of these dreams came the vision for a homestead with room to grow and share our family’s dream with others. As an extension of the Granger family, our mission and purpose are threefold.

  • Commit our property to restoring and conserving Texas native plants and pollinators through stewardship and preservation.

  • Create a homestead that feeds our purpose and our souls.

  • Create an educational platform for others to be inspired and encouraged.
